Four-Leafed Clover

Four-Leafed Clover Decoration

Materials Needed

1. X-acto knife or other sharp cutting tool
2. Card board (I just used some I was going to recycle)

3. Tape

4. Picture of a four-leafed clover from the internet. This is the one I used.

5. Shredded Paper or Tissue paper

6. Mod Podge or some sort of gluing.

How to:

1. First, cut out the outline of the four-leafed clover from the internet.

2. Then trace the picture onto the cardboard. You can just free hand the whole thing if you want, but I chose to trace because I am not an artist. However, I did make the stem a little thicker. You will need two of these to make the four leaf clover 3D
3. Then cut out strips of card board. For this I would use a thinner cardboard, like the boxes that soda cans come in. You want it to be bendy, so you can sort of mold it to trace around the four-leafed clover.

4. Next you will tape the thinner strips to the outside edges of the cardboard, which will make it 3D.

5. Attach the backside of the clover with the tape also

6. Apply Mod Podge to the car board and apply the paper shreds. I did the inside dark green and outside light green.

7. Allow to dry and this is what the finished product will look like!

It might be better to make the stem more prominent, because on mine it a little hard to see. However, make it however big or small you want. In addition you can cut out pretty much any shape or size  to make a simple decoration like this. So, get creative and have fun! Thanks for reading my blog! DVD Organization

How to Organize Your DVDs

Over the years, my family has collected many DVD's ranging from hilarious comedies to children Disney movies. However, the most annoying thing is when I can not find the movie I am looking for. In addition, I spend hours looking for a DVD only to realize we do not own the movie. I bet all of you have also faced this movie hardship. Therefore, I came up with this way to organize movies that will hopefully make your life a little easier.

Materials:

1. Labels
2. Computer (Microsoft Excel)
3. DVDs
4. Paper for the printer
5. A lot of Patience

How to:

This process may take awhile, so don't feel like you have to do it all at once. Take your time even if it takes you months. In addition, I would start with taking out your movies, or at least a shelf out at a time to start organizing them.

1. You will need to gather your DVD's and enter them into the computer. So open up Microsoft Excel on you computer. Start entering the names of your movies in the column A
2. As you are doing so make sure to also make sure to put a number next to the name of the movie in column B.
Tip! If you do not one to keep typing out numbers you can simply highlight the B1 and B2 by clicking B1 holding and dragging the cursor to B2 and letting go. It should look like this
Then with the mouse put the cursor directly over the bottom right rectangle to where you get an addition sign like this. I'm using a Mac computer, so I am not sure if it is different for other types.  Click and hold when you see the addition sign and as you drag downwards the numbers will continue 1,2,3...to however many you want.

3. As you are entering the movies, I would label them with small stickers on the visible side of movie when in the cupboard. Like this:

Sorry that I do not have real DVDs to show. I just finished coming up with this idea, so I haven't been able to actually get to the real DVDs.  However enjoy my animations!

4. Continue to put all of your DVDs into the computer. For this demonstration I used some of my favorite movies. In the comments below let me know your favorite movie! *When entering movie names I would not include "The" or "A". For example I took out the "The" in The Help*

5. Finish labeling all your DVDs so they are arranged in numerical order. I only went up to 10 for the demonstration.

6. This next part may be a bit tricky. You need to hold the "A" letter above the column and highlight it to over "B". When a downward facing arrow appears then you can click down and it will highlight the "A" column. Then click hold and drag to the right to also highlight the "B" column.

7.Next, with these two columns highlighted, find the button that looks like this and click it. This button puts things in alphabetical order. If you aren't sure where it is on your computer, simply check the internet!

8. Your movies should now be in alphabetical order like this. The numbers should also stay with the movie they were originally next to if you also highlighted the "B" column. For example, Amazing Spiderman is first and should have the #5 next to it.

9. Print this sheet out and you can update it whenever you want. I recommend only doing it when you have 10 or more new movies to add. That way you save paper!

10. When you are adding new movies, follow steps 6-9. If you put the name of the movie and column "A" and the next number (mine would be 11) and follow 6-9 it will re-alphabetize it for you. You may have to click it twice in case it starts with the Z's first. That is what happened to me.

Now whenever you want to find a movie you can look for it alphabetically and find the number that it is. For Example if I want to watch Kick Ass, I would go to the K's and find it. Then I would look at the number it is. In this case it is number 8.  Since my movies are in numerical order I would just look for #8 and then enjoy the movie!

Hope this tutorial on how to organize your DVDs was helpful! Also I hope that once you are finished, this helps saves you time finding the movie you want to watch! Leave comments below if you have any questions or any other ways you can organize DVDs!

Snowmen Clay Pots

Snowmen Clay Pots

Materials Needed:

1. Different Sized Clay Pots. You will need one clay pot for each snowman. For my project I made a family of 3 Snowmen

2. 4 Double Sided Knitting Needles and or Small Round Knitting Loom
3.Regular Knitting Needles

4. White Styrofoam Balls

5. Different Colored Yarn

6. Hot Glue Gun

7. White, Orange, Brown, and Black Acrylic Paints

How to Make:

1. Take the different colored yarn and knit small scarves. I used 10 stitches for the biggest snowman, 8 for the medium, and 5 for the smallest snowman. However, I would just eyeball it out to the size that you think fits the best. In addition, at the end cut smaller pieces of yarn and using a crochet needle added fringe. Do whatever you want though! Make your snowman family unique!
2. Next, using the Round Knitting Loom and 4 double sided knitting needles I made the hats. I used the loom for the two bigger heads. You may be wondering why I am using two same sized heads. It is because the craft store's next smallest size looked too small on top of the clay pot so I had to use what  I could find. Then using I believe using as much stitches to wrap around the small head, I used the 4 double pointed knitting needles.
*If you don't know how to use knitting needles or the loom here are some websites that will help you learn. However, you can always improvise and use felt or other fabrics. I found these videos very helpful. *These aren't my videos, they are fellow crafters on youtube!*

3. Using the white paint and a paint brush, paint the outside of the clay pots white. Do not worry about the inside or the top of the clay pot. Those parts will not be seen.
4. Next, using the hot glue gun attach the styrofoam balls to the top (well in this case bottom part) of the clay pots
5. Then again using the hot glue attach the hats and scarves.

6. Lastly, using the black, orange, and brown add the Snowmen's features (Mouths, Eyes, Nose, and Arms) Also if you have buttons laying around I used the hot glue gun to attach some buttons to the front of the snowmen. You can also use paint or whatever you want!

Finished Products!

Ornament Wreath

Materials:

1. Some Different Sized Ornaments. I got mine at Dollar Tree.
2. A foam circle. I also purchased this from Dollar Tree.

3. A hot glue gun of any type

How to Assemble:
To make the wreath it is really quite simple. Just Take an ornament and glue it on. It will start to have more and more ornaments.

Then after you have glued all the ornaments on, It will look like this! Feel free to use any color ornaments for yours! Make it unique and use it as a decoration or to give as a gift.

If you would like to hang yours on the wall like I did, simply find some yarn or ribbon and tie it around the the foam part. You may want to tie this before you add the last few ornaments, but it should work either way! I hope that you guys have a Happy Holiday and that this DIY was beneficial for you!
